The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.

Pain Relief/Management

Let’s face it, regardless of age, lifestyle habits or vocation, we all experience pain from time to time. Pain can exist in many forms: muscle soreness, headaches, aching joints, jaw tightness, or a stiff neck just to name a few. Often times we can’t even point to an activity or event that caused the problem so we simply write it off to “sleeping funny” or some anomaly, hoping it goes away on it’s own. As we go about our days, we slide into routines and the body forms patterns, using some muscles more than others and thereby creating an imbalance in the system. Therapeutic bodywork helps to break these patterns by relieving tight, sore muscles, easing chronic pain, restoring balance, and aligning the physical structure.

Stress

Stress plays a large role in how body experiences tension and pain and often times contributes to declining overall health. As stress builds in the body, muscles instinctively tighten, causing long-standing chronic tension patterns, headaches, and more. By reducing stress levels we strengthen our healing process, increase overall energy, have an improved outlook on life, and lower the risk of injury and long-term illness. Massage and acupuncture are well documented for their stress-reducing effects, and they can support your path to a healthier life.

Prevention

Medicine is changing and the value of prevention in healthcare is becoming more and more apparent. Preventive healthcare consists of measures taken for disease prevention, as opposed to disease treatment. Just as health encompasses a variety of physical and mental states, so do disease and disability, which are affected by environmental factors, genetic predisposition, disease agents, and lifestyle choices. Health, disease, and disability are dynamic processes that begin before individuals realize they are affected. By taking steps to keep the body in balance we improve our chances of keeping disease at bay, increasing longevity, and enhancing our quality of life.
